Ola’s 8 Steps to a Safer Ride in Alert Level 3

Let's come together for safer travel

Hi South Korea,

Today we begin a new chapter of our fight against COVID-19 with New Zealand entering Alert Level 3.

Ola is still available to support you and your bubble buddies with trips to work, school, exercise, pick-up or deliver essentials, low-risk recreational activities and any other permitted regional travel needs.

During this time we know our community of riders and drivers is strongest when we work together which is why we are launching Ola’s 8 Steps to a Safer Ride.

4 Steps we will do:

Car Hygiene Training

We are providing all of our drivers with special hygiene training

Regular wipe downs

High touch areas in and out of our drivers cars will be frequently cleaned

Unique start code

You can have peace of mind knowing you will never get in the wrong car

Contactless deliveries

Our drivers can deliver items to your family and friends contactless

4 Steps we need you to do:

Travel Solo

Only travel with us solo or with a bubble buddy

Sit in the back

Giving a safe distance for both you and your driver

AC off and windows open

This helps avoid air recirculation

Rate your ride

This provides us with feedback on car cleanliness and driver safety

You can ride with Ola in Alert Level 3 🚗

Staying safe in Alert Level 3 & what it means for you

Hi ,

Following the Government’s announcement yesterday, New Zealand will enter Alert Level 3 as of 23:59pm on Monday 27 April and will remain there for at least 2 weeks.

Ola will still continue to operate just as we do today. With restrictions being lifted we can now help even more workers get to work, support regional travel when you need it and we can pick-up those essential shopping items for you.

Despite entering Alert Level 3 we strongly advise you stay home as much as possible to continue to support New Zealand’s fight against COVID-19.

If you do require to urgently travel, please follow the below advice:

✔ Sit in the back seat to give you and your driver space.

✔ Ride solo or with people you live with to maintain social distancing.

✔ Roll the windows down during your ride.

✔ Wear a face mask if you are required to do so.

✔ Cover your nose and mouth using your elbow or a tissue if you feel during your ride you're going to sneeze or cough.

✔ Wash your hands often with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand sanitiser. Our drivers have also been required to increase cleaning and sanitisation of their vehicle. You should remember to wash your hands or use sanitiser before and after each ride.

Keeping our riders and drivers safe is more important than ever and we all need to do our bit to support each other. Please do the right thing and only take a ride when absolutely necessary.

Following the government announcement, foreign travellers are now allowed to take domestic flights in order to connect to their international flights home.

Keeping safe remains our top priority which is why we will continue to support both our local and international community with essential travel.

If you or someone you know is affected by these changes and needs to get to the airport urgently we are offering a helping hand with 15% off rides to the airport* until 12 April 20.
